In a heartwarming endeavor, I embarked on a unique project to breathe new life into a children’s book titled ‘The Parking Lot.’ Commissioned for a limited audience, which happened to be the author’s cherished family members, the book had remained in the realm of treasured memories for over a decade. Unfortunately, the original watercolor illustrations that had once graced its pages were lost to the passage of time.
Armed with determination and digital tools, I took on the challenge of resurrecting the 32 pages of this heartwarming story. Working with black and white copies and a handful of surviving original illustrations, I harnessed the capabilities of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to recreate and amplify the visual experience. My goal was not only to salvage the essence of the narrative but also to bring an extra layer of vibrancy and charm to each page. The result was a limited run of the book, complete with my recreated artwork, providing the author’s family with a tangible and endearing keepsake that bridged the past and the present.
